Tracking dangerous heat and humidity setting in starting Friday
TONIGHT: Mostly clear and mild with lows in the mid-60s.
TOMORROW: Mostly sunny, hot, and humid with highs in the low 90s. Heat index values around 100 degrees.
EXTENDED: Tonight will be mild and comfortable before upper high pressure starts to build in over the area tomorrow, sending winds back from the south. Gulf moisture increases dew points to the low 70s and highs reach near 90 on Friday, pushing the heat index to near 100 degrees. A Heat Advisory is in effect through early next week as heat index values range between 100-103 each afternoon through Tuesday. The jet stream looks to stay to our north, keeping the pattern largely dry for much of the week. The upper ridge may begin to weaken a bit toward late week, introducing a low chance for a few storms.
